A quote by Kim Chernin

Earlier I posted a blog called "The Body" Unfortunately, it was deleted?! Which is ironic, because the post was about impermanence....

However, here is a quote I would like to share ~ By Kim Chernin

"The body holds meaning . . . when we probe beneath the surface of our obsession with weight, we will find that a woman obsessed with her body is also obsessed with the limitations of her emotional life. Through her concern with her body she is expressing a serious concern about the state of her soul."

Waking up Again

“Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.”

Thich Nhat Hanh

Suffering

“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment; he needs help. That's the message he is sending.”

Dog Miracles

I will never fully comprehend the love of a dog. To embrace this love, really feel it and know it is beyond miracles. Beyond the wonder of the Cosmos and the Earth combined. Steadfast, unconditional, forever loving, and forgiving, there is no amount of love I could possibly return to say thank you to the Dogs in my life. Through the years I have had the great honor to be in the company of some special animals. Now in thinking of some that have passed from this Earth and some that are present, I am thanking these dogs today for the teachings and blessings they have given me.

No Blame ~ Just Understand

“When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you
don't blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not
doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or
less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have
problems with our friends or family, we blame the other
person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will
grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive
effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason
and argument. That is my experience. No blame, no
reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you
understand, and you show that you understand, you can
love, and the situation will change”

~ Thich Nhat Hanh

No Self No Problem

“Many people look for freedom through accumulating either material possessions or spiritual knowledge. These searches amount to nothing more than a donkey chasing after a dangled carrot. When we wake up to that truth in this very moment we realize that what we were seeking was already here. The question is, ‘Can we wake up to this truth?’ It might be much easier than we think. Remember, great ancient masters often said that we don’t realize the truth because it is too simple and too close to us. When we finally realize it, we will be shocked by two things: how much time we wasted searching and how easy it was after all.”

Embracing the Feminine Within

Today the moment of "enlightenment" came at an unusual time. While feeling in crisis mode, as many humans do daily, I felt the gentle taste of comfort fill my soul. Today was like most days, stress about health issues, money, the state of the world, family, and work all threatened to steal my sanity. In the midst of this chaotic turbulence I remembered the woman in me. Although I do not watch television and divert my eyes to the constant barrage of images that portray women as objects of unrealistic proportions, I as most women do, still have an unrealistic pressure that pushes me to the brink on certain days. Today I felt a calm of acceptance, love, and beauty fill my being. It's as if the a Goddess was smiling down on me and urging me to see my beauty within. The beauty that is often times forgotten and lost in this world we call Earth. The calm and peace can only be described as a great self love that allows the demons to quiet, the voices of ego to die. There is a fullness and emotional feast of pure feminine power that encompasses the body and heals the heart. Is it the Goddess? Is it Nature? Or could it be the simplistic and beautiful transition that women used to be encouraged to journey through many, many years ago? The power of the Moon can never be forgotten. The Earth's energies have a great influence over our emotions and power. This is a power I speak of not so much as an ego, self centered corrupting power, but a power that allows women to expand in love. A little quiet time could perhaps help. Or maybe the breeze moving through a beautiful sycamore tree will remind you once again.
